Christina Reynolds
Christina Reynolds is an Irish American writer, painter, musician and animal enthusiast. Originally from New York, where she completed her BA in Liberal Arts at Bard College (concentration in music), Christina came to Ireland to complete her MA in Cultural Policy and Arts Management at UCD.
Christina grew up in Yonkers, NY and began her artistic pursuits while attending School of the Holy Child, Rye. It was here that Christina first discovered her love of design and pattern details, which she continues to carry within her works.
While growing up, Christina spent practically all her summers in Mullingar, Ireland from the age of 9. Spending summers on her uncle's farm shaped her love of animals and marked the foundation for her vegetarianism. Her exposure to the richly historical and natural landscape of Ireland juxtaposed with her urban upbringing in New York and her sense of color, structure and language tempered by her deep visceral sensitivity has greatly influenced her oeuvrve. Natural themes and elements are wound up and processed through a strikingly modern, yet faintly primordial, abstract lens.
Residing in Ireland has helped Christina evolve her many interests and pursuits amongst a wonderfully enriching historical and natural environment. One day Christina hopes to live in the country surrounded by donkeys, pot bellied pigs and creatures of the forest....
