I have to say the movie was very inspirational and although it wasn't easy to get myself out of bed and into town for 10am on a Saturday, I'm glad I did. For anyone looking for a little inspiration on their journey I recommend this uplifting movie. (The movie also got me interested in Joseph Campbell a prominent mythologist and writer).
The take home message was that we are all Heroes on our own Journeys and we all have to fight our own demons, and slay our own dragons along the way, and the more we conquer our fear, the more we have to gain.
I love movies and writings like this, however i would need to watch the movie everyday to remind me of its principles for living as it is far too easy to get bogged back down by the daily realities of life.
Unfortunately, no hero journey is easy and as I was reminded this week, sometimes our dragons and demons beat us and we take paths of self destruction instead. I just hope that more people can be inspired on their journey's instead of feeling that there is no way forward on their path except death.
As far as the Spirit in the City group, I am really glad i went I met some interesting people and even made a few new friends. It's nice to meet such open and interesting folk! I only wish the regular meetings weren't on weekdays when I am in work.!
